Back to Ladbrokes after a stint of bankroll degeneration at PokerStars. A nice 19th place in the 20K Gtd for 213 euro and followed by last nights 3rd in the 6K Gtd for 687 euro. Came in as last on the FT with just over 100K in chips, and just sat and waited for cards and managed to scramble my way to third.
After the break i decided to play a few MTT’s. Played splendid in the 4K Rebuy and finished 17th. Qualified for the €55 5K Guranteed and finished 21st. Last night I qualified for the weekly final for Killarney and finished 4th in the 6K Rebuy for €450 with 436 runners.
That week off poker made a huge difference to my attitude and I was more focused than ever on pot/stack control. Huge confidence boost that I hope I can retain for the next couple of weeks.
After playing all previous 7 tournaments and my personal best result was top 30 in the Omaha event, I was hoping for a deep run in this the last event. We started with 7K chips and I must say this was the tightest play I’ve seen in a while. (maybe just my table)
Fairly uneventful first hour were I topped at 9.3K and lowest was 5.5K. Didn’t get any cards and when I did and made a minraise, I got the blinds. Second hour about the same, hovered around the 7K mark. 3rd hour I bumbed my stack to about 15K, but still very slow. Lost a huge pot early and down to 8K, when i made a seriously tough allin call with JJ after some thinktank. Had to check handhistory on this guy since he played like a muppet earlier. He pushed allin after a low flop of 397. His AK missed and I was a happy camper.
Rest of my team was already out and the slowish structure made me tired, but I managed to keep focus enough during the last couple of hours to get my chips up to +90K. Lost a third in against shortstack (36K) and was blinded down to 37K when I finally got AQ. 8.5BB left sitting in middle position and folds before me I pushed hoping for blinds.
BB calls with 66 and nothing on the board and a decent finish on spot 17.
